But last summer I also dragged my ex-wife's old 2001 Mac Digital Audio G4 tower out of my closet, and I expect to be using it for a retirement project it's sitting on my desk next to the monitor stand.

What happened is that last summer I inherited a 27-inch 2560 x 1440 Apple LED Cinema Display, which now sits on a wooden IKEA monitor stand (it's actually one of the last dot-matrix printer stands IKEA sold in the U.S.) over my early-2011 MacBook Pro. But I want it for not much more than $100, and that doesn't seem to be happening.

You can not edit /System/Library/Displays/Contents/Resources/Overrides/DisplayVendorID-1e6d/DisplayProductID-59f1 since it's readonly. What I want is this KVM switch's elderly brother/sister, that can do 2560 x 1440 on the video. In case someone is having the same problem with Big Sur: you might save yourself a which cable are you using? I don't know how this works with other resolutions but for 2560 x 1080, if you have displayport and are not super techie (as I am not). Can even do 60Hz vs the reduced amount that was required to get SwitchResX working on High Sierra. Then I tried switching from HDMI to Display Port and now everything works fine on my old MBP without SwitchResX.
SWITCHRESX UPSIDEDOWN DRIVERS
I reached out to the developer and he helped me troubleshoot but was ultimately told that the video drivers in Catalina had a restriction that was not in the previous OS and there was nothing that could be done, my machine just could no longer support 2560 x 1080.
SWITCHRESX UPSIDEDOWN UPDATE
I tried all of the solutions above: uninstall and reinstall as a new user, update using EDID, renaming the relocated items file, etc. When I upgraded to Catalina SwitchResX no longer worked and I received the "Not activated - invalid?" message. I was using SwitchResX to display 2560 x 1080 on High Sierra without issue. Thought I should share in case anyone has the same issue I did. I am very lost and almost give up.Ĭould anyone tell me if it will ever work? if it is not, I will just stop trying.Īlso, please let me know if I need to disable (reverse) this attached patch code if I do not need to use it anymore.
SWITCHRESX UPSIDEDOWN INSTALL
I tried this patch file ( ), disable SIP, install SwitchResX and yet it doesn't work. However, my friend's 2015 mbp can run easily 4k 60hz with my setup.
SWITCHRESX UPSIDEDOWN 720P
However, I was so disappointed when I could only run 720p 59.5hz while the other options only work at 29.5hz and below.Ĥk 60hz is not what I wanted, I only want to run 2560 x 1440 60hz or 2304 x 1296 60hz and yet my mbp doesn't allow this to happen.
SWITCHRESX UPSIDEDOWN MAC OS
I am running Mac OS 10.15.4, connected my mbp to the display using mini dp to dp in attempt to get 60hz display. My 13" MacBook Pro mid 2014 display broke down weeks ago, I ordered a Dell U2720Q with a native resolution of 3840 x 2160 60hz. Hi guys, need a little help here, appreciate if you guys could help. Regarding the access right, you need to be super user to create this file.Īfter a restart you should be able to see the correct resolution (2560x1080) in SwitchResX. System/Library/Displays/Contents/Resources/Overrides/DisplayVendorID-1e6d/DisplayProductID-59f1 I think you don't need to make every steps I did. Can you please write the whole code for the terminal? And I have problems with access right - I can't copy that file to the folder on mac. Hope it helps Sry, I'm beginner and bit stupidoo. Now you just need to restart the MacBook and choose the correct resolution (2560x1080) in SwitchResX. I just copied to the systems folder like this: 'sudo cp DisplayYearManufacture-2015-DisplayWeekManufacture-1 /System/Library/Displays/Contents/Resources/Overrides/DisplayVendorID-1e6d'.Īfter that I renamed the file to match the product ID: 'DisplayProductID-59f1 '.
